UPDATING OF GENEALOGICAL BOOK TITLED
"THE FREEMANS FROM 1442 THROUGH 1994 552 YEARS"
The titled book was researched from 1974 through December 30, 1994 and provided the most accurate and complete information then available.
In November 1999 I acquired a computer, scanner, and printer with one goal in mind: to update the research on the Freeman family using the Mormon Genealogical Library's "LDS Family Search Engine". Using this technique I have added Sources 582-6 to the array of information previously researched and contained in the cited volume.
In the research effort completed in December 1994 there was one "loose end" that existed with no completely adequate explanation at that time. This concerned the "Visitation of London" data compiled c-1690 which showed four Freeman Generations between "abt 1442" (John Freeman) and ca 1530 (Edmund Freeman). Edmund Freeman, born ca 1530 is not my bloodliner-hence my concern. This additional LDS Family Search effort has permitted me to unravel the mystery. The cited Edmund Freeman is of my family but it is his brother John Freeman born 1541 in Pulborough/Sussex/England who is my bloodliner. Edmund Freeman, was born ca 1530 in Honington/Northamptonshire-just before (1535) the Freeman family moved south to Pulborough. From the genealogical data displayed in the Visitation of London most of the locations cited are in the north of England about 50 miles northwest of London, not in Pulborough/Sussex. Source 460/
